The first vet visit

Start a good relationship.

4 min read

A first checkup sets a baseline for your cat's health.

Bring

  • Any records from the shelter or breeder
  • A list of what they eat
  • Your cat in a secure carrier, with a towel over it
  • A fresh stool sample if the clinic asks

Ask about

  • Which vaccines your cat needs and when
  • Parasite prevention
  • A healthy weight and how much to feed
  • Spay or neuter if it isn't done
  • What counts as an emergency

General information only, not veterinary advice. Talk with your vet about your cat's health. Little Meadow Journal isn't paid by any pet food or product brand.
