Shelters and rescues have cats of every age and personality. The right match makes the first months easier for everyone.
Think about
- Kitten or adult: adults' personalities are already known
- Energy level: playful explorer or calm lap cat
- Other pets and children at home
- Long-haired cats need more grooming
- Two kittens often keep each other company and out of trouble
Ask the shelter
Ask about the cat's history, health, how they react to handling and how they get along with other animals. Adoption often includes vaccines, spay or neuter and a microchip.
